a recipe you should make! and other randomness

Today Preston and I were sitting in a waiting room... well... waiting. And on the tv a "winter weather advisory watch" popped up -- right when we saw it Preston laughed and said "That's funny. Must be some old newscast or show being replayed."
I thought that the odds of that were pretty slim, but I also didn't seriously believe we could be in a winter weather advisory. So I checked online, and sure enough - we are.

This is not ok.

It is almost the middle of April.

Although the weather's been chilly, my temperature hit triple digits last night. After a full weekend of feeling icky, I discovered I had a 103 degree temp (which is how we ended up in a waiting room in the first place.)

Preston and I were trying to watch the season premiere of "Mad Men" last night and I felt so awful I asked him to go watch downstairs so I could rest in quiet. I love "Mad Men" and had been counting down to the start of the new season -- so I was definitely not myself.

Preston didn't want to watch without me but also didn't want to wait to watch it, so we compromised: I laid down with a cold washcloth on my forehead on the floor by the fan and listened, and he explained what was happening during commercials.

Now after watching (or at least hearing) the full first episode, I'm really disappointed in some of the twists and turns in the plot. I'd give it a 6 out of 10. I think some of the characters on that show need to come see me and have a stern talking-to. Seriously -- grow up and get your lives under control, people!

Now I'll calm down and move on from that fictional world to the real world. The first few months of 2013 have been completely filled to the brim with work, work, and more work for me and Preston. We are beyond blessed to have jobs and both enjoy working. But when we're both working this much, we're so exhausted when we get home that we are too drained to even talk -- let alone have a social life.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, though. What the first few months of 2013 lacked in excitement we're hoping to make up for in the next few months. That will include lots of traveling (we're traveling once or twice a month for the rest of the year -- to some nearby places we love and some far, far away places we've never been to) and even more time in the sun (whenever it decides to show its lovely face again.)

So wherever life or the next plane outta here takes us, I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, here's a dessert recipe I found on Pinterest (tried and approved personally) that will not let you down! I would not change a thing about these delectable bars -- if you decide to make them, make sure to give them a full day to set before cutting them. They are so gooey that if you try to cut them too quickly it makes a huge, caramelly mess.
