my deepest, darkest secrets (no, not really)

I can’t seem to stop writing lately. I feel like my paragraph-long Facebook comments and 2-page-long, heartfelt (anonymous) restaurant and hotel reviews are possibly all pointing to the need for somewhere new to write my insights. About what exactly? We will see. Regardless of the fact I don't have a clear topic to write about, I can already tell this is going to be a match made in blog heaven.

Since I don’t know anything about who my readers are going to be, or if said readers will even exist, I guess it’s only fair that I divulge a ton of information about myself in this first post. I'm hoping to use this blog as a way to keep family and friends up to date on where life takes my husband and I in the next few years. Adulthood has taught me to be prepared that you'll never feel prepared -- literally for anything. And I'm taking that mindset into this blog. I haven't spent lots of (any) time thinking about what I'm going to write about, but I'm just going to write anyway.

If you’re going to read my blog, I want to make sure you know what you’re getting into. So, here are my deepest, darkest secrets that no one knows about me. Not really -- this may be my first blog post, but I know not to put my biggest secrets on the world wide web. ;) And besides that, I don't really have any huge secrets that no one knows about me (Is that sad?) Nonetheless, here are some facts about me, to maybe give you (and I) a clue as to what I'll be writing about in this blog.

* I like Pinterest - a lot. Some girls go on shopping sprees, I go on pinning sprees. Sometimes I get exhausted from all the pinning I do and have no energy left to do anything actually productive. I tell myself that one day all these pins will come in handy, and sometimes that has proven true. I cling to that shred of evidence as an excuse to continue my pinning obsession. But seriously: recipes, DIY projects, organization tips --- I love finding ideas on Pinterest and trying them out. If you want to check out my Pinterest page, you can: http://pinterest.com/emilyann620/

*I read constantly. Someone once asked me, "What book made you love reading?" And although I've loved reading since before I can remember and can quote Dr. Suess, Clifford, and Berenstein Bears books just as well as any first-grader -- I would have to say Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is the first book that I really, really loved. I read it in 6th grade with a friend, and the characters came alive like never before when I had read books.

*I’m married. To the best guy ever. This June, we'll celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. Crazy, right?! I look back on us, 21-year-old college students, and feel like I was too young to fly on an airplane alone, let alone get married. But like I said earlier, adulthood has taught me that you'll never feel prepared for anything but life goes on anyway. Getting married was the best decision I ever made, and I'm so blessed to have such a great husband.

*I would sell my house, car, and even my beloved computer if it meant I could travel the world. No doubt about it. My favorite place I've ever traveled to is Hawaii. I want to live there someday. In my next post I'll write some of the places I want to travel, and some of the places I have traveled.

*I have a major love/hate relationship with exercise. I love how a good workout feels and love to see results when I stick with something --- but sometimes a girl just wants to sit on the couch with a box - I mean bowl - of Fruity Pebbles or Cap'n Crunch (or both) and watch "The Bachelor." And there are only so many hours in the day, so sometimes exercise loses.

*My favorite day of the week is Sunday, because I get to go to church. I feel like this is a freedom and privilege that can sadly be taken for granted. I am blessed with the best church and the most indescribable Savior. My faith is truly my light in the darkness, and I try to honor God in whatever I say and do.

*I've always been terrible at doing my hair and make-up -- just not something that comes naturally to me -- but I will die trying! I'm a firm believer that on those days that you just don't want to get out of bed, because say it's been snowing for 30 days straight (even though it's the end of March) -- hopping in the shower, going for a quick walk, and putting on a little make-up can boost your mood and turn your day around.

So... Those are a few things that make me who I am -- can't wait to see how this blog unfolds.

Here are a couple of pictures of me and my favorite person in my favorite place. :)
